The research question
An order can have a clear deadline but still lack the information needed to research the correct subject. Preparing a short, complete brief helps distinguish the target, agree the work, and establish when delivery timing begins. This lesson explains what to gather and how AsiaBIS confirms the start of an assignment.
Build a subject identification sheet
For a company, provide its legal name, country, available registration number, known address, and relevant website or trading name. Label uncertain details rather than guessing. If you have a quotation or document showing the contracting entity, describe which company on it is the intended subject.
For an associated individual check, provide the person's name, associated company, and either date of birth or ID number. These are AsiaBIS's required identifiers. Do not place identity details in a public contact comment or publish them in a shared learning example; arrange the appropriate submission method with the research team.
Explain the assignment
State why you are ordering, which company or people are included, the questions to resolve, and the requested delivery format. Separate facts you already hold from concerns you want investigated. A useful brief might say: “The supplier uses two English names. Please establish whether the quotation and registration record concern the same entity.”
For DD media and litigation research, the normal lookback is ten years unless another period is requested. Historical corporate registry records are included where available. Tell the team about a particular earlier event before confirmation if it matters to the assignment.
Know when the delivery clock starts
Research timing starts once required subject details are complete and the applicable confirmation has occurred: payment confirmation for website orders, or email confirmation for invoiced clients. Payment alone does not resolve missing identifiers. If you have supplied incomplete details, ask the team to confirm the delivery date after completing them.
Online Company Report and Credit Report have a two-working-hour turnaround. Vietnam DD targets are one working day for Lite, two for Basic, three for Standard, and five for Enhanced. A Vietnam Standard company-plus-two-associated-people bundle also takes three working days. Country-specific timing and expedited requests are confirmed as applicable; expedited delivery is considered case by case by email.
Check the handover
Before work begins, keep a record of the agreed subjects, scope, timing, and delivery route. If circumstances change, tell the team promptly and ask whether the change affects the assignment. Avoid assuming a newly added subject is included in the original timing.
As a final exercise, read your brief as if you had never met the supplier. Could another person identify the exact subject and describe what success looks like? If not, clarify those points before sending it.
What to take away
- Provide exact subject details and flag uncertainty.
- Individual checks require an associated company plus date of birth or ID number.
- Complete details and the applicable confirmation are both needed to start timing.
