Senior Engineer

AsiaBIS is looking for a senior engineer to take ownership of the backend services and databases that support company search, research operations, report delivery, and client workflows.
You will also guide the practical integration of AI into the platform. The goal is not automation for its own sake: AI-assisted features must be measurable, secure, traceable to source material, and designed around responsible human review.
This is a full-time position based in Hanoi, Vietnam. You will work closely with product, research, and operations colleagues across the AsiaBIS regional network.

- Own the architecture, reliability, performance, and security of the backend systems that support the AsiaBIS platform.
- Oversee database design, data modelling, migrations, indexing, backups, access controls, and production monitoring.
- Design and maintain APIs, internal services, and integrations that connect company data, research workflows, orders, and client-facing products.
- Integrate AI capabilities into research and operational workflows with evaluation, guardrails, source traceability, privacy controls, and human review.
- Work with research, product, and operations teams to turn practical requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
- Improve engineering standards through testing, documentation, code review, observability, incident response, and mentoring.
Production experience and practical judgment.
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of production backend systems.
- Strong experience with relational databases, data modelling, SQL, migrations, performance tuning, and reliable data operations.
- Proficiency in a modern backend stack such as TypeScript and Node.js, or comparable production technologies.
- Practical experience integrating AI or large-language-model services into products, including evaluation and failure handling.
- A security-minded approach to permissions, sensitive data, auditability, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Clear written and spoken English, sound technical judgment, and the ability to collaborate across engineering and non-technical teams.
